Whether you are interested in integrating Entrepreneurial Leadership into an existing program at your school, launching a new unit as part of an existing course, or even creating a new course at your school, these workshops will give you the tools to do so. The Centre for Entrepreneurial Leadership offers two kinds of workshops (In-Residence or Summer Institute).
I'm Interested in learning about:

In-Residence

Spending a week with CEL at African Leadership Academy, participants will get insight into particular topic (e.g. Launching Student Ventures or Cognitive Coaching for the Classroom), while also experiencing ALA at large and interacting with our world-class scholars.

Summer Institute

Joining CEL for approximately four weeks of the “summer,” educators will spend one week in an intensive “EL Crash Course.” Afterwards, educators will apply EL concepts as they co-facilitate the Global Scholars Program, a three-week opportunity in which students are immersed in the ALA experience.

African Educator Scholarship

In partnership with the MasterCard Foundation, CEL is proud to invite top African Educators to apply to attend CEL programming. Educators should demonstrate: Desire to attend an Educator Workshop, Dedication to implementing curriculum upon return to home context, and Demonstrated financial need.

The GSP Educator Program is an opportunity to reignite your passion for learning, explore new cultures, re-think existing assumptions, and re-connect with the innovative wonder that is our profession. Time at African Leadership Academy is a formative professional development experience. We hope you will to join us in 2017. ** Limited scholarships are now available for amazing educators from African countries who are passionate drivers of leadership programs in their own schools or NGO’s.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

We consult teams who are launching or transforming schools, camps, and developmental programs.
Both experienced and new teachers are encouraged to apply, and successful staff members typically have a good mix of the following:
● We welcome educators from across the world.
● A flexible and agile problem solver
● Comfortable with a socratic style, where raising questions is more important than giving answers
● Energized by different cultures, languages, and learning styles
● Committed to their own personal journey and growth

A DAY IN THE LIFE

For experienced youth educators interested in pursuing a unique and valuable professional development opportunity, your day to day role will be familiar. You will mentor a “family” group of 8 campers in addition to facilitating classroom sessions and experiential workshops. A typical day would start at 7 a.m. for breakfast with the campers on your hall. This is followed by a camp staff briefing, which then leads into the content delivery or excursion of the day. At about 4 p.m. you will spend time connecting with other campers or simply getting a rest. Dinner follows and then an evening with a guest speaker or a special workshop. For younger teachers, it is an opportunity to see a new model of learning within residential programs. Those who join us will become part of our BUILD certified educators, helping to create an unforgettable experience for students who join our Global Scholars Program.

WHY DO IT?

One of the most exciting elements of the seasoned educator’s experience is renewing our passion for learning. You will learn new cultures, re-think existing assumptions, and re-connect with the innovative wonder that is our profession of teaching.
